If you have been following the “sketchy” story of Max Romey, then you may already know he has an innate curiosity and a healthy sense for adventure. He never leaves home without a sketchbook and small kit of watercolor supplies. Furthermore, if it’s winter, he is almost always on his kicksled!

We met Susan through our 24 Day Watercolor Series that was designed to be a fun take on an advent calendar. But instead of a counting down to Christmas with a daily dose of candy, we thought it would be fun to sketch and paint small paintings that would fit together to become a bigger painting by Christmas.

With no further ado, it’s my please to share with the virtual world Elsa Worth who calls The Granite State of New Hampshire home. She is an active Trailbound Sketches participant, having signed-up for ALL of our tutorials, which is amazing! Her story stood out when she started sharing pages of her sketchbook while working on the 99 Sketches Series.

My grandmother Lu shared her love for sketching with me when I was very young. Teaching people to be curious and create what they want to see was a passion of hers. Therefore, following in her footsteps feels like I’m sharing her joy for drawing and painting with you!

My late Grandmother, Lucretia “Lu” found that thing. She sketched as freely as she breathed in the world and life around her. Whether it be the silly raccoons she fed outside her home in Cape Cod, or the more exotic penguins of Antarctica, she made marks on paper most days of her life.

Every year, twice a year, the Earth’s axis tilts towards or away from the Sun. An annual astronomical dance that every person on the planet is a part of. How much of a dance is experienced will depend on where they are located in relation to the Equator, Arctic Circle, or Antarctic Circle.

You require a lot less than you might think for a colorful day on the trails! I hope this video and the list of my go-to favorite art supplies helps take the guess work out of what to bring on your next adventure.

The drive from Anchorage to Seward along the famed Seward Highway is sight to behold, but also an adventure in and of itself. Depending on the time of year and weather, it can be an uneventful 2.5 hour drive, or an all day test of your patience.
